Druid Class Overview
The Druid Class is a shapeshifter who can attack from a distance or melee range, while commanding the power of nature's elements:
- Earth
- Wind
- Storm
As a Druid, you can further boost your damage with the unique class mechanic called Spirit Animals. You can choose up to five boons from the Spirit Animals you bonded with to empower your character.
Following up, we'll cover the class archetype, the resource generation, and more information about the Druid Class in Diablo IV!
Class Archetype
In Diablo 4, the Druid can use both ranged and melee attacks while also using companions to destroy any enemy it comes across.
Resource
As a Druid, a fast and agile fighter with various tricks up their sleeve, you will use a lot of Spirit. Each attack requires a specific amount of Spirit; the stronger the spell, the more it costs.
Note: Your Spirit will replenish slowly over time, but Basic skills can also recover Spirit!
Damage Type
Druids are masters of Physical damage, but they can also use Lightning and Poison damage:
- Lightning – Big DPS but RNG dependant.
- Poison – Pretty good DoT damage.
Skill Groups
All Diablo IV classes have specific Skill Categories, such as Basic and Core skills, but druids have additional groups for Defensive, Companion, and Wrath abilities:
- Basic – Filler skills, which usually cost no spirit.
- Core – Abilities with no cooldowns, but their most significant drawback is the high cost of spirit.
- Defensive – Skills that reduce damage taken or heal.
- Companion – Passively summon permanent creatures to aid in battle.
- Wrath – Powerful spells that also include crowd control.
- Ultimate – Powerful abilities with big impact but high cooldown.
Skill Examples
- Rabies – Shapeshift into a Werewolf and perform an infectious bite on the target dealing 28% damage, and an additional 53% damage over 6 seconds. Infected enemies spread Rabies to other surrounding targets.
- Wolves – Passive: Summon 2 wolf companions that bite enemies for 8% damage. Active: Direct the wolves to focus an enemy, leaping to them and striking for 35% damage.
- Lightning Storm – Conjure a growing lightning storm that deals 25% damage per strike and increases the number of strikes the longer it is channeled up to a maximum of 5.
- Lacerate – Shapeshift into a Werewolf, become Immune and quickly dash 10 times between enemies in the area dealing up to 400% damage.
Unique Class Mechanic
Each class owns a distinctive mechanic that adds bonuses to the character's skills & abilities. The druid's unique class mechanic in Diablo 4 is called the Spirit Animals. This new addition allows players to choose up to five boons from the Snake, Hawk, Deer, and Wolf, with one boon from each and then the fifth from any of them.
Weapons Used
As a druid, you can equip seven types of weapons:
- Sword
- Axe
- Mace
- Totem
- Staff
- Polearm
- Hammer
The druid can use a wide variety of weapons. The choice is yours, and everything is dictated by your playstyle and the purpose of the build/character.
Strengths and Weaknesses
In this section of our Druid guide, we'll present the Druid's Pros and Cons in Diablo IV:
Pros | Cons |
Jack of all trades: The Druid's abilities are very versatile and cover all the necessities of any type. | Master of none: While having everything you need, the damage output is pretty low. |
Summoner: Druids can summon a variety of pets to help in combat. For example, wolves can keep mobs occupied while the bear is great at tanking bosses. | High cooldowns: While the damage of the skills is decent, the cooldowns of the skills are very high, making the DPS low. |
Crowd Control: Druids have various ways of applying Crowd Control effects like Stun, Knockbacks, and Damage Reductions. | Conditional Effects: While not being able to apply Crowd Control, DoTs, and Vulnerable effects, your damage might be lower than usual. |
Very good tank: While not having the pets to tank, Druids are very good at tanking on their own. |
Following up on our Diablo 4 Druid Class Guide, we'll present the stats prioritization for your class and the bonuses & effects provided by them. Let's get into it!
Druid Stats Priority
In this section of our Druid class guide, we'll present the most important stats and how to prioritize them.
Each primary stat in Diablo 4 is another way of enhancing your class further. The offensive effects of each stat will differ depending on which character you are playing. In terms of Primary Stats for Druid, the priority should be the following:
Druid Offensive Stats Priority: Willpower > Dexterity > Intelligence > Strength
Druid Defensive Stats Priority: Willpower > Strength > Intelligence > Dexterity
Following up in our Diablo 4 Druid Guide, we'll present the skill tree & skill groups and how to enhance the proficiency of your abilities.
Druid Skill Tree
In the following section of our guide, we'll present the Diablo IV Druid Skills, ability groups, and enhanced versions of them.
The Druid class in Diablo 4 has 25 different skills distributed in six categories:

- Core Skills

Active & Passive Skills
Active skills are abilities that are used by different characters and monsters. Druid's active skills can be acquired from any abilities group in the tree.
Passive skills are permanent buffs/effects added to a specific skill or group of skills. A Druid's passive ability is always active and modifies the attributes of the character/skills or give bonuses to your companions.

This sums up everything regarding Druid's Class Talents in D4. Moving on, we'll present a quick introduction to how to approach this class and how to improve your character.
How to play Druid in Diablo 4
The Druid is one of the most versatile solo classes in Diablo IV. As we tested in the Beta, there was nothing you couldn't solo on this character except the World Bosses. To improve your DPS and survivability, you must use gear with good affixes that boost your character, such as:
- +% Skill Damage
- + Ranks to Core, Companion or Wrath (depending on your playstyle)
- +% Crit Strike Chance
Additional attributes that could work, but they are not as important as the ones listed above are:
- +% Core Skill Damage
- +% Max Life
- +% Skill Cooldown Reduction
Druid Leveling Skills
The best leveling skills in the druid's gameplay depend significantly on the chosen element. Below you have a setup of skills for each one separately:
Melee – Storm Strike, Pulverize, Debilitating Roar, Wolves, Rabies & Lacerate.
Tornado – Storm Strike, Tornado, Debilitating Roar, Wolves, Hurricane & Cataclysm.
Druid Leveling Talents
The best leveling talents are extremely powerful and define the overall playstyle of your build. Every talent group has a requirement that needs to be met before allocating any points to the skill tree:
- Core Talents: Requires 2 skill points to be allocated in the skill tree.
- Defensive Talents: Requires 6 skill points to be allocated in the skill tree.
- Companion Talents: Requires 11 skill points to be allocated in the skill tree.
- Wrath Talents: Requires 16 skill points to be allocated in the skill tree.
- Ultimate Talents: Requires 23 skill points to be allocated in the skill tree.
- Capstone Talents: Requires 33 skill points to be allocated in the skill tree.
Regarding leveling, we recommend using the Call of the Wild for increased companion damage output, the Elemental Exposure for added Vulnerability to enemies, and Charged Atmosphere for random Lightning Strikes. There are a couple of talents that we recommend for specific builds, such as:
Rabid Wolf Talents
- Heart of the Wild: Maximum Spirit is increased by 3/6/9.
- Abundance: Basic skills generate 10%/20%/30% more Spirit.
- Call of the Wild: Your companions deal 10%/20%/30% bonus damage.
- Predatory Instinct: Critical Strike Chance against Close enemies is increased by 3%/6%/9%.
AoE Talents
- Heart of the Wild: Maximum Spirit is increased by 3/6/9.
- Abundance: Basic skills generate 10%/20%/30% more Spirit.
- Call of the Wild: Your companions deal 10%/20%/30% bonus damage.
Druid Leveling Build
A build is more important in the endgame than in leveling, but we found some examples of high-quality items that you must use as a Druid:
Druid Build
- Aspect of the Unsatiated (Helm) After killing an enemy with Shred, your next Werewolf Skill generates x% more Spirit and deals x% increased damage.
- Aspect of Retaliation (Weapon): Your Core Skills deal up to x% increased damage based on your amount of Fortify.
- Ballistic Aspect (Amulet): When you have Fortify your Earth Skills gain +2 Ranks.
Druid Rotation
The Druid Rotation is very dependent on your Spirit resource generation. The basic skills are very weak, mostly used to regenerate Spirit.
The rotation itself is effortless: use each skill when it comes out of cooldown and try to maintain the spirit with the help of abilities, upgrades & legendary aspects.
This wraps everything regarding the basics of the Druid's Playstyle in Diablo IV. Now let's check out the gear particularities and what stats you should primarily focus on for your character.

Druid Legendary Items & Powers
In this section of our Druid guide, we'll present the legendary items, powers, and aspects you can use to further increase your character's capabilities, such as DPS output and survivability.
Best Legendary Aspects For Druid
We did not have access to all aspects, but only those from Act I. The following section lists only the known groups of Druid-specific legendary aspects in Diablo IV:
- Defensive Legendary Aspects
- Offensive Legendary Aspects
- Resource Legendary Aspects
- Utility Legendary Aspects
- Mobility Legendary Aspects
Legendary aspects can be imprinted on Rare or Legendary items at the Occultist, and after imprinting, the following results can occur:
- Rare Items turn into Legendaries + they keep the same stats that were previously on the item.
- Legendaries will overwrite their aspect with the new one.
Certain Legendary aspects are exclusive to a single class, while some are available to multiple characters. The Codex of Power aspects remain in the book indefinitely, and the imprinted item consumes the extracted Legendary Aspects.
Druid Defensive Legendary Aspects
Defensive Legendary Aspects can only be imprinted into the following item types: Helm, Chest Armor, Pants, Off-Hand and Amulet.
- Aspect of Cyclonic Force - Cyclone Armor also provides Physical Damage Reduction. In addition, Cyclone Armor will also be applied to all Nearby Allies.
- Aspect of Mending Stone - The duration of Earthen Bulwark is increased by 6 seconds. In addition, killing an enemy with Earth Skills replenishes X of your active Earthen Bulwark's barrier.
- Skinwalker's Aspect - When you use a Shapeshifting Skill that changes your form, gain X Life. If you are at full Life, gain the same amount as Fortify.
- Stalking Beast Aspect - Gain Stealth for 2 seconds when killing enemies with Shred. Breaking Stealth with an attack grants Ambush which guarantees Critical Strikes for 1.0 seconds.

- Aspect of the Rampaging Werebeast - The duration of Grizzly Rage is increased by 1 seconds. In addition, Critical Strikes while Grizzly Rage is active increase your Critical Strike Damage by 10% for the duration.

BiS Gear for Druid in D4
In this section of our Druid guide, we'll present the Best in Slot Gear for your character and how to acquire it.
The most crucial point in acquiring the best armor and weapons for your Druid is that you don't need to farm a perfectly rolled Legendary piece. You can transfer any legendary ability/aspect into a rare item. Legendaries have four affixes that make them more powerful.
You can create perfect items by rolling rare items with your desired aspect. We recommend gathering materials while leveling, but save them for the end game crafting.
Note: The Codex of Power has the lowest possible roll of the legendary aspect.
Druid Paragon Board
In this section, we'll present the Druid's Paragon Board, its levels, and how to acquire them.
Once you reach level 50, you start gaining paragon points. At each level beyond that, you will gain four paragon points, expecting 200 Paragon Points at the maximum level.
At level 50, you will receive a starting paragon board (each class will start with a suitable board for them). You assign your points moving closer to the gate tiles; when you reach one of those, you will attach a new paragon board to your existing one.
As you can see, the Paragon Board represents one of the end game progression systems in Diablo IV.
Druid Glyphs
In addition to the different tile types, glyphs can be slotted into paragon sockets. Glyphs are items found throughout the sanctuary and in dungeons. When a glyph is socketed into your board, you will gain various benefits based on the number of active tiles within the Glyph's radius.
Glyphs have different qualities, such as magic or rare, and they can be leveled up to increase their bonuses and the radius of their effect, allowing them to draw powers from more active tiles.
