You only use the shotgun to build up the Heartbreaker stacks. Alternatively, you can swap the shotgun for an LMG with the "Flatline" talent. Also, you can use some weapon damage rolls and go for a hybrid blue-red core build, but make sure you don't go below 1.2 million armor!
